5000 forward integrated streak lines in the flow around a cylinder. They have been computed using the streak line vector field.
Cover image of Vis10 Proceedings.
5000 backward integrated streak lines. The streak line vector field allows to compute a large number of streak lines orders of magnitude faster than the classic approach.
Cover image of Vis10 Proceedings.
Volume rendering of the streak line curvature in the flow around a cylinder.
Cover image of Vis10 Proceedings.
Salient edges of the screwdriver model. Red denotes convex edges, blue concave edges.
Cover image of SGP09 Proceedings.
Salient edges of the dino model have been extracted as separatrices of the topological skeletons of the principal curvatures.
Cover image of SGP09 Proceedings.
Salient edges of the knot model. The most salient edges have been identified using separatrix persistence.

The smoke visualization of the flow around the Ahmed body reveals the strong vortices created at the corners of the slant as well as the turbulence in the middle of the slant.
Cover image of Vis08 Proceedings.
Smoke structures in the flow around the Ahmed body elucidate the turbulence of the flow as well as the capability of smoke surfaces to capture such intricate flow features.
In the flow around an airfoil, scaled lines of maximal strain (blue) and lines of maximal vortex activity (red) give a complete overview of location, extent and strength of these important flow features.
Core lines of maximal vortex activity in a turbulent mixing layer. The lines have been scaled according to the Q-criterion.
Topologically simplified representation of the electrostatic field around the benzene molecule with one higher order critical point elucidating the far field behavior of the benzene. The field consists of 184 first order critical points.

2D time-dependent flow at a cavity. Stream line oriented topology of the first 100 time steps.
Cover image of EuroVis06 Proceedings.
Separation surfaces of a modeled vector field, which has been constructed using 3 saddle points and a number of saddle connectors.
Modeled topological skeleton surrounded by tetraeders of the automatically generated piecewise linear vector field containing the modeled topology.
Topological skeleton including saddle and boundary switch connectors of the electrostatic field around the benzene molecule.
Flow behind a circular cylinder. 13 critical points and 9 saddle connectors have been detected and visualized. Additional LIC planes have been placed to show the correspondence between the skeleton and the flow.
Topological skeleton including separation surfaces of the electrostatic field around the benzene molecule.
Cover image of Vis03 Proceedings.
Topological skeleton including saddle connectors of the electrostatic field around the benzene molecule.

Vortex Structures at a Rotating Ship Propeller.
Presented at the Gallery of Fluid Motion 2006.
Coherent-Structure Skeleton of a Turbulent Mixing Layer.
Presented at the Gallery of Fluid Motion 2004.
The streamlines are seeded at positions of very high and very low mean curvature. This supports the visual detection of shear-layer vortices and secondary spanwise structures, and it eases the understanding of the flow to a very high degree.
Winning entry from the Gallery of Fluid Motion 2003.
